The cons of recycling

I must confess, I've always assumed that recycling is an environmentally responsible choice. It's never occurred to me to even question it. And then along comes this article asking, "Is recycling utter rubbish?"

It may not have changed my mind on the desirability of recycling, but the article definitely offers some interesting food for thought. It challenges some assumptions that it has never occurred to me to challenge.

It's so easy to get sucked into doing things "because that's the way they're done." We don't give them any critical thought, and we accept it as truth. But the more deeply we can examine what we do - and not just blindly do it - the better our decisions can be.
