I would like this post and the post on positive movie/documentary picks to grow over time and become a resource for ideas on positive books and movies to choose from. People can't pick them up if they don't know about them, so here's your chance to share the wealth!
What books have you read that have had a positive impact on your life? What books inspire you?

Non-fiction books that have inspired me...
I am a huge fan of Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series (I am currently reading the 15th book in the 21 book series). The big themes are friendship, loyalty, service set in the English Navy during the Napoleonic wars. Both of the lead characters offer insights into human nature, but Stephen Maturin inspires me.

“Yes Man” by Danny Wallace. This is a very funny book that focuses on opening your mind to let in opportunity. A great story.
“The Traveler's Gift: Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success” by Andy Andrews. It shows the connection between you and famous history makers, and how close and available success is to each of us.
“Win the Crowd: Unlock the Secrets of Influence, Charisma, and Showmanship” by Steve Cohen. A magician’s perspective on connecting with people and winning over a crowd. Great insight.
“The Disappearance of the Universe: Straight Talk About Illusions, Past Lives, Religion, Sex, Politics, and the Miracles of Forgiveness” by Gary Renard. A fantastic book that opens your mind to spiritual connections; it really paths the way toward enlightenment.

Now Discover Your Strengths, Buckingham and Clifton. If you want to spend your life on what you're good at, this is the book you need. Simply reading, a great online StrengthsFinder test, simple strategies to deal with (and definitions of) "weaknesses".

I recently read "The Dice Man" by George Cockcroft (Luke Rhinehart). In some strange way it appealed to me and made me reason differently on some major issues that where holding me back in my life.

The Power of Nice is one that has recently reminded me of the power of a positive attitude.
Anything by Norman Vincent Peale is great too.
And John Maxwell's Winning with People and follow-up 25 Ways to Win with People serve as great reminders on how to life people up instead of how to put them down.

I find that there are a lot of science fiction books that show great examples of leadership. Some that I really like are Robert Asprin's Phule series. These books are funny, engaging and inspiring. Phule is a great leader and seems to do it effortlessly. I really like it when I get inspired by something that I just picked up as a fun read, it just goes to show that inspiration doesn't always come from the most obvious (non-fiction) sources.

"Focus On The Good Stuff; The Power of Appreciation" by Mike Robbins, is a great book on the idea of letting those that are looking for a brighter way to help them(and others ) get there! Great little book, with a HUGE message! Also, "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale. "Success Principles" By Jack Canfield. "The Answer" is helpful by John Assaraf.
