Hey, guess who has a new blog?! Yup, it's yours truly. It's called Travel. Adventure. Life.
It was inspired by my upcoming vacation to Cambodia (16 days and counting till I leave...whee-haw!). What's it about? Well, that's still a work in progress. Here's what I had to say about it in my first post...
The truth is, I have no idea where this blog is going to take me. All I know is that it's going to be about travel. It's going to be about adventure. And most of all, it's going to be about life.
I love the parallel between starting the blog and discovering where it wants to go and creating a fabulous, juicy life. You don't have to know your ultimate destination. You just have to pay attention along the way. Rather than locking myself into what I want it to be, I decided to just start posting and see where it goes.
Sure enough, after a few posts about the upcoming trip that couldn't possibly be of interest to many others, I started to refine the focus, as I highlighted in another post...
I want to make this blog more than an "I-did-this-then-this-then-this" travelog. I've already been boring myself with the postings thus far. What I do will certainly be a part of it, but not the sole focus.
I'm interested in how the travel experience relates to the bigger picture of how we experience life (I promise that won't be as pretentious as it sounds).
I'm getting a much better idea for what I want the blog to be, and I think it will be a lot stronger and a lot more interesting than if I had simply decided on its format and pursued it rigidly.
It's exactly the same with life. I said something a couple paragraphs up that feels so important that I want to repeat it.
You don't have to know your ultimate destination. You just have to pay attention along the way.
When you pay attention along the way, you notice what feels right, and you notice what feels out of whack. You notice what energizes you, and you notice what sucks you dry. And when you notice, you can do something about it, whether that is incorporate more of the juicy or move away from the draining.
Step by step, you can create your destination, sculpting your life so it's rich, and meaningful, and zaftig!
