Identifying your self-limiting beliefs
Do you have any self-limiting beliefs? (Hint - the answer is yes.) To some degree, we all do. The trick is recognizing them.
Here are some signs to help you recognize when limiting beliefs are at work (from an article on listening to your inner voice).
- You tell yourself that you only have one or two choices in a situation, or "no choice" at all.
- Your inner critic expresses his or her opinion. The inner critic's opinion is generally based in a limiting belief.
- A decision may appear to be black and white to you, or an either/or situation.
- You have decided that "this is the way the world is."
- You make a decision based on fear.
- You feel constricted and notice that you lack clarity about a specific situation.
Until you are aware of your limiting beliefs, you are powerless against them. They call the shots, and you don't even realize it. Once you identify them, you begin to take back that power. When you notice them at work, you can consciously ask yourself, "Is that really valid?" Over time, you can shift those beliefs toward the positive.

Some caution is needed here. One should first see whether it is actually a limiting belief or a limitation. Everyone in this world is different in abilities, temprament, interests etc and everybody is not cut out for everything. The degree of traits also varies from person to person. So more than any attitude it could be a severe aptitude problem.
