Ten tips for living authentically

A lot of what I talk about on this blog really boils down to simple authenticity. Making your decisions based on who you are at the core, and not trying to be someone you're not in your career.

Here's an article that offers ten tips for living authentically.

1. Know your purpose
2. Know your values
3. Know your needs
4. Know your passions
5. Live from the inside out
6. Honor your strengths
7. Take time to play
8. Be aware of your self-talk
9. Surround yourself with inspiration
10. Serve others

I would expand #9, "surround yourself with inspiration," to include inspiring people. We all spend a lot of time with people who don't add anything to our lives - and even people that are negative and a drain on us. I make it a serious scheduling priority to spend regular, major blocks of time with people that inspire me, as well as being a person that can inspire others. It makes a difference!

Amen to that, Earl! The people around you can be a huge source of either inspiration or energy drain. I think it's a factor in the equation that often gets overlooked because we're simply used to the people that exist in our lives.
