Reality TV: "I Hate My Job"
Alison Doyle over at the About.com Job Searching blog calls attention to an interesting new reality TV show.
I think I am probably one of a handful of people in the US who has never seen a reality TV show (I don't watch TV), but I have to say this one piques my interest.
Al Sharpton, who failed in his last bid for a new job president of the United States now has a job on a reality TV show that guides people on career makeovers. Spike TV, the Viacom cable channel that targets a young male audience, said Sharpton will host "I Hate My Job," premiering in the fall. "I like the concept of trying to have people discover their purpose in life, and not have the world define them or settle for less than who they want to be just to pay their bills," Sharpton said Tuesday. The eight male contestants in the show will quit their jobs and work with two "life counselors," Sharpton and California psychologist Stephanie Raye, who will give them advice and weekly assignments. A panel will decide which contestants will continue each week.
The big question, of course, is whether there will be anything to learn from how it unfolds (it could offer some very cool insights), or whether it will be a bunch of shallow, made-for-TV, soundbite crap.
Somehow the skeptic in me suspects the latter. I would love to be wrong.

It boggles the mind, that idea. Al Sharpton?!
I have to confess that I love reality TV, except the dating and sex shows. I like watching the way people interact. There was one on daytime TV for a while where people were in a halfway house and had to get their lives together. Really interesting!

I keep waiting for the new reality T.V. show that involves watching paint dry. It seems like there is a need for that type of show, dontcha think? *wink*
