Keep your feet moving

Flemming Funch, aka Ming the Mechanic, who's always got something interesting happening on his blog, posted a short but power-packed summary of what Anthony Robbins has to say about achieving anything you want:

The truth of the matter is that there's nothing you can't accomplish if:

(1) You clearly decide what it is that you're absolutely committed to achieving,

(2) You're willing to take massive action,

(3) You notice what's working or not, and

(4) You continue to change your approach until you achieve what you want, using whatever life gives you along the way."

That last one is something people consistently miss when it comes to pursuing their passions. More often, people try to create that career that lights their fire, only to find that they don't "succeed" with it right out of the starting gate.

For many, that's the end. They shrug their shoulders and say, "I tried." What they don't realize is that passion in their career usually comes from an iterative process. Trying, building on what works and shedding what doesn't, and trying something new.

I'm a huge hockey fan. One of the things they talk about in hockey is that you need to keep your feet moving. If you don't keep your feet moving, you're not going to make anything happen.

The first year of my Passion Catalyst practice, I kept that visual in my head. I kept trying new things, and then still more new things. New services. New ways of promoting my business. Finally, toward the end of that first year, one of the new things I tried really helped give me the traction I needed to grow and thrive (I started doing events with speakers who had successfully pursued their passions in their careers - the first month I did that my Passion Catalyst business grew substantially).

Don't expect instant results, because you probably won't get them. Look at what's working, and what's not, and keep trying new things.

Just keep your feet moving. It will happen.
